Church growth through Transfers - Is it good, bad, or just the way it is?
Earl Creps writes about church transfers in today's protestant church. He cites a George Barna statistic that says that 80% of church growth is either born into the congregation or has transferred from another church - yowzers! Creps goes on to say that if transfers are a fact of church life, we should make it a point to attract believers who are "missional Christians" - those who are fully in line with a focus on saving non-believers. Interestingly, he cites the need for an "outplacement specialist" as well, that is, a process in which folks can move on to another congregation should they find that the current one isn't working for them. Some interesting fodder on an interesting, and very rarely covered, topic.
