Not Comfy with TV and Video Games But Buying Them Anyway and Discipline for Today's Kids
- Christian Parents Are Not Comfortable With Media But Buy Them for Their Kids Anyway: A new Barna Group study shows that most Christian parents will purchase such presents for their children despite their misgivings about the content of those products. The result will be stress for many well-intentioned but morally uncertain parents, and inappropriate exposure for millions of morally vulnerable children.
- And while we're on the topic of kids, a fairly new Blog called "Emerging Parents" has a thread on the topic of discipline in today's generation. I'm an 80's kid (born in '71, graduated from high school in '89) and as I look back to the "gentle" approach us 80's kids grew up with, is the same approach good for the first millennium kids? I have 4 boys (20, 16, 13, 12) who are quickly hurtling towards being young men and the responsibilities that come with age. Did we prepare them right, did they learn what they need to be growing Christians and good citizens in their community? So far, thank the Lord, the results show that we've done a good job though we've certainly had some bumps; I'm curious to see what type of walk in the Lord they'll develop. Comments on your child raising or how you were raised as a kid?
