4. THe Dual Nature of Christ (Ch. 5)
- Dual nature means that Jesus is fully divine and fully human
- Since Jesus was referred to as the 1st Adam, He did not have the fallen nature
- When God made Adam, His mind was on Jesus
- His Nature of was Divine so had He sinned, he would have literally died (of course, being theoritical)
- With the two natures, we must read whether His was thinking or speaking as a man or as God, or as Both
- Why is the term, "God the Son" unscriptural? Because the sonship isn't eternal, saying that now the Son is a God and therefore eternal. You can say "Son of God" or "Son or Man".
- The term "son" refers to either the humanity or the humanity and diety but never the diety alone pg. 98
a) Matt 9:6 (God and human at the same time)
God is the only one forgiving sins, and now here was Jesus forgiving sins; the Jews became angry.
b) John 3:13 (speaking in the present tense that the Son of Man _IS_ in heaven - man & God at the same time)

7. The ending of the sonship
Acts 2:42-45
1st Cor 15: 23-28

The sonship was necessary to provide:
redemption, reconcilliation, perpitiation (pays the price), atonement, substitution
