The Beginning of Mankind and of the Godly Seed

The curse on the tempter and the continuation of the Godly Seed

Man’s sin was most tragic and the judgment he brought upon himself was terrible: Adam sinned, and when he sinned he immediately suffered terrible consequences. Judgment on sin was pronounced and the perfect justice was executed.

But a way of salvation was to be offered to man.

“So the Lord God said to the serpent: ‘Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.’” - Genesis 3:7-13

Question: What happened to man and the earth? How would you have reacted if you were Adam or Eve?

The First Judgment on Sin Was Towards Satan:

  1. He was cursed above all creatures.
  2. He was to crawl upon his belly: to be detested, degraded, and miserable - always
  3. He was to eat dust: to be defeated and humiliated - always.
  4. He was to be the object of enmity waged between him and the seed of the women.
  5. He was to be crushed by one particular seed or descendant of the women.

He is doomed forever. Scripture never says that satan will be saved from the judgment of God. In fact the Word says, “And you shall eat dust All the days of your life”. The devil is doomed to an eternity in the lake of fire. There is no hope for him. “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” - Genesis 3:15

Question: Name 3 ways satan was judged.

We Are The Godly Seed!
The seed of the women refers to the godly men and women of earth, those who follow after righteousness. The promised son (Jesus Christ) has already come into this world and died for you and me, satan can do nothing about that. But satan still tries to get us to turn from the seed of the women (Jesus Christ); when we give into his temptations we are being drawn back to what Eve faced that day in the garden (major consequences). Jesus Christ crushed the head of the serpent at the cross. How? Jesus was the perfect sacrifice without sin, by not giving in to temptation.

Christ crushed the head of satan by:

  1. Dying for man (Colossians 1:13, 14)
  2. Being raise from the dead (Colossians 2:12, 15)
  3. By being incarnated (1 John 3:8)
  4. Casting out satan’s power to enslave man with the habits of sin and shame (1 John 4:4)

In pronouncing a curse upon the serpent, God assured ultimate victory for man. Women had caused the fall, and a women was the source of redemption. Adam and Eve began looking for God to come to deliver them from the bondage and curse of sin.

Why don’t we look to God to forgive us of our sins! No longer are we destined to hell but by the Lamb of God we are freed from our sins to be reconciled back to God!
