What Is An Inspired Christian?
Here at Inspired Christian.org
we often talk about what makes an inspired Christian. We've developed
a simple breakdown of core characteristics; we invite you to
read through our definition than ask you to fill out the question
at the bottom. Let's get started...
Joshua stands before us as an
example of what it takes to be an inspired Christian. We will
look at five unique characteristics of Joshua's life. Although
there are so many more qualities that we need today this will
point us in the right direction.
1. A Person Of Humility
Before he was an inspired Christian, HE WAS WILLING TO SERVE.
For forty years he served under Moses in the Wilderness, he was
known as "Moses' assistant", "his servant"
- Exodus 24:13; 33:11
2. A Person Of Faith And Trust
In God
As demonstrated when sent to spy out the land, ten of the twelve
spies demonstrated their lack of faith in God by their
report. Yet despite the "peer pressure" he must have
felt, Joshua (along with Caleb) demonstrated his faith in
God by his report (Numbers 13:25-28;14:6-9)
3. A Person Of God's Word
His success was directly related to the adherence to the Word
of God. To ensure success, he had to fulfill all the Law as given
by Moses. To ensure that he did, he was to meditate upon the
Law day and night (Joshua 1:7, 8).
4. A Person Of Prayer
We see him praying for his people's failures following the defeat
at Ai In which he and the elders pleading with God on behalf
of Israel (Joshua 7:6-9).
5. A Person Who Puts God First
In the middle of a military campaign - though it gave their enemies
time to join together in opposition - Joshua still put God first
and kept His commandment concerning the blessings and cursing's
(Joshua 8:30-35; 9:1-2)
It was qualities such as these
that made Joshua an inspiring person for us today. But he was
not alone in these things, as it appears that others of his generation
were much the same. So, we are not talking about supernatural
qualities, but those which each and every person is
capable of possessing today and going forward. This is
an Inspired Christian!
