By LYDIA ARELLANO Fond Memories Of A Special MomWith Mother's Day having recently past, I'd like to testify. How can I best describe Mothers? They're self sacraficing, very giving and loving. They deny themselves and give their all for their children. If their children happen to face danger or death, they would take their place instead. One thing about a mother, she somewhat compares to God. She's very loving; her love is great. She forgives all. Her love is also very powerful and pure. Her children are special and beautiful. She doesn't see her children's short comings, just as God doesn't see our faults. What a great love! As I look back to my childhood I remember my mom making tortillas. I can almost hear the sound right now of the rolling pin, clanking back and froth, rolling the tortilla out. I remember the smell of the tortilla cooking in the mornings, as my mother sang hymns of praise. I remember my mom coming from working in the cannery, and us kids running to meet her and hug her. Hoping she would bring us a peach, my favorite was the "cling" peach. She always did. My mother also loved to bake corn bread and "panecitos" (a sweet bisquit). Then, all of a sudden, there would be a knock at the door; it was the brothers and sisters of our church. They had come to pay us a visit and we would share our bread and coffee with them. Last year, on Mother's Day, I
had an awesome experience. I was asked to lead a prayer over
5,000 Native American Indians at Stanford University's yearly
Pow Wow. My prayer was for God's blessings over all of us and
our children. I thank God for this great opportunity; to be able
to share with others God 's blessings and spirit. To pray for
all mother, who like God, love, endure, and are patient. God
