By KAREN ADKINS My Testimony, Karen AdkinsHello, my name is Karen Adkins, West Fargo, North Dakota in Pentecostal church. I was born deaf in Jamestown, ND. My adopted parent took me when I was 3 months old from Lutheran Social and my parent raised me. My parents never knew what was happening with me when they brought me and took me to Mayo Hosptial in Rocesther, Minnestoa. The Doctor examined me to see if something was wrong with me or whatever it was that my parent suspected. The first thing the doctor told my parent was that I was doing fine, nothing wrong! But my parent did not agree with this so they ask the doctor to examine me again, then he told my parents that I was deaf! My parents and adopted brother keep me to raised me. I grew up with Lutheran Church and also attended North Dakota School for the Deaf from 1967 to 1980 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. When I was little girl about 5 or 6 years old my mother taught me how to pray, in the morning, noon, evening, and before I went to bed. I was a teenager and was kind of in trouble in school, I was 13 1/2 year old. Then I received my confirmation for being there! My parent gave me a book, "A Visit With Jesus", that book make me wonder Jesus was. I was praying in silence to God to tell God I was not satify that Lutheran Church and ask the Lord please guide me to truth church! I was looking, something missing in my life! then i go back school for fall then someone noticed that I change, I didn't even realized that they notice!! they asked me how? I told it is "Prayer is works" then wait for 6 year later when I got done school then I graduated! Then I go to school in St. Paul, MN, somehow I was there in school. The Lord showed me two deaf men coming to my school, I didn't know what was going on! Then, two deaf men came to me and talk with me something about the Lord. I said sure, go ahead and talk and the same day they come back to me, they talk to me about truth of the Lord! I was eager to hear more about it! A few weeks later they brought me to Apostlic Revival Center, Golden Valley, MN in January, 1981. It was my first time I attended that church that and I saw so many deaf people and others people dance and singing to the Lord, I had not see that before! Somehow the Pastor saw me that I was new person to stand on the front pew and came to pray with me and put his hand on my head, I was puzzled about that! I was glad that I found the truth the church that God guide me direction! I was water baptized in Jesus name on March 30, 1981 and I felt God's hand inside my heart taken my sins away. I thank the Lord for taking my sins away! When I got up from the water I jumped around in the water and the water was spilling over the floor and I never forget that the Lord has done for me! then people notice me that I change it and I said really and they said you look happier now than before. I said yes I am happy that I found the Lord! Somehow I was praying in the Lord and I woke up at 4 a.m. amd spoke different languge in tongue that I even not know what all about! Upstairs my landlord heard and wrote a note saying that she heard different language spoken at 4:00 A.M. My roommate saw the note on kitchen table and she wondering what was going on huh? Then she woke me up the morning and asked me what are you doing at 4:00 a.m. I finally got up from bed and walk to the kitchen table and saw the note that the landlord had heard different lanugage! Later that evening I showed the same two deaf men the note and they started to jump up and down, I was puzzled - what was going on?! Then they told me, "hey you got the holy ghost!" They had prayed so hard for me to received the Holy Ghost! I am so thankful for the Lord! I have been attending the first United Pentecostal Church since 1986. It so wonderful refreshing in Holy Ghost, I feel rain in Holy Ghost! It is still a blessing and God is so good to you and me! I pray for people to get hungry and thirsty for the Lord! I have 3 deaf ladies in my church in deaf ministry, I am so thankful to the Lord! I love to talk to other people about Jesus! Jesus is so good to you and me! Thank you Jesus! Love, Karen Adkins
