Go Bears
My inaugural post on InspiredChristian may not seem particularly inspired or Christian, but thousands of churches across America will have SuperBowlTM parties in their sanctuaries Sunday afternoon. The NFL, however, has taken notice, sending a cease and desist letter to Fall Creek Baptist Church in Indianapolis. "We have contracts with our (TV) networks to provide free over-the-air television for people at home," said NFL spokesman Greg Aiello. "The network economics are based on television ratings and at-home viewing. Out-of-home viewing is not measured by Nielsen."

Like Kevin at CMS writes: "It's plainly obvious that the NFL is being stupid and this is just the latest example of old school giants not understanding the new social- and community-oriented world. Large gatherings of people eagerly watching the Super Bowl™ and its accompanying commercials should make the NFL, CBS and all the advertisers forking out millions of dollars absolutely giddy. Instead the NFL is worried about not being able to measure that giddiness and therefore translate it into a cash equivalent."

How about it, Christian? Did you obey the law of the land and cancel your Super Sunday showing? Or did you go ahead with your plans to enjoy chips and guac as the Bears and Colts go at it?
