In the book of II Kings, chapter 6, verses 1-7, we encounter a fascinating and miraculous story involving the prophet Elisha. The narrative begins with the sons of the prophets expressing their desire to expand their living quarters by the Jordan River. As they were cutting down trees to build a new dwelling, one of the men accidentally dropped an iron axe head into the water. Devastated, he cried out to Elisha, explaining that the axe was borrowed. Understanding the gravity of the situation and the distress it caused, Elisha asked where it had fallen. The man showed him the exact spot. Elisha then cut a stick and threw it into the water at the same location. Miraculously, the iron axe head floated to the surface. Elisha instructed the man to retrieve it, and he did.

This story is not just about a lost tool but a powerful demonstration of faith and divine intervention. It illustrates God's concern for even the small troubles of His people and His ability to provide miraculous solutions. Through Elisha, God showed that nothing is too trivial or too difficult for Him to handle. This account reminds believers that their faith can lead to extraordinary outcomes, reaffirming God's presence and power in their everyday lives.

Scripture:

II Kings 6:1-7 (KJV)

And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
