Jeremiah 1 introduces us to one of the most powerful callings in Scripture. Set during the reign of King Josiah, this chapter reveals how God chose Jeremiah before he was even born.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee” (Jeremiah 1:5 KJV) reminds us that God’s plans for our lives are intentional, purposeful, and established long before we see them.

Jeremiah feels too young and unqualified, but God comforts him with the words:

“Be not afraid… for I am with thee” (Jeremiah 1:8 KJV).

God then touches Jeremiah’s mouth, placing His words directly into the young prophet’s heart, empowering him to speak boldly. Jeremiah is appointed to uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow, build and plant—a mission of truth, correction, and restoration.

The chapter ends with a promise: though Jeremiah will face opposition, God Himself will stand beside him.

✨ Key Lessons from Jeremiah 1:

God’s purpose for you began before your birth.

Feeling inadequate doesn’t limit God—He equips those He calls.

God’s presence gives courage for every assignment.

Trust His plan, embrace your calling, and walk boldly in faith.
