Jeremiah 43 marks a tragic turning point after the fall of Jerusalem.
The remnant of Judah had asked God for guidance—and promised to obey. But when God’s answer came through Jeremiah, warning them not to flee to Egypt, they rejected it outright. Accusing Jeremiah of lying, they forcibly take him, along with Baruch, down to Egypt in direct rebellion against God’s command.
Once there, God speaks again.
Jeremiah is instructed to perform a powerful prophetic sign: burying stones at Pharaoh’s palace in Tahpanhes. God declares that Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, will invade Egypt and set his throne on those very stones. The place they fled to for safety will become the place of judgment.
Jeremiah 43 exposes a sobering reality:
Asking God for guidance doesn’t mean we’ll obey
Fear often disguises itself as wisdom
You cannot outrun God’s will—or His warnings
📖 Key Lessons from Jeremiah 43:
Disobedience hardens the heart
God’s truth is not altered by rejection
Forced religion without trust leads to destruction
True security comes only from faithfulness
“Thus saith the LORD of hosts… I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon… and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.” — Jeremiah 43:10 (KJV)
This chapter asks every believer a piercing question:
Do we truly seek God’s will—or only His permission?
