Jeremiah 9 is one of the most emotional and hard-hitting chapters in the entire book of Jeremiah. Their society is filled with deceit, betrayal, and dishonesty — everyone lies, no one can be trusted, and the nation has abandoned God’s law.

God speaks through Jeremiah with a sobering warning:
