In the small village of Bethany, a man named Lazarus fell gravely ill. His sisters, Mary and Martha, sent for Jesus, hoping He would come and heal their brother. However, Jesus delayed His journey for two days, telling His disciples that this sickness would not end in death but would glorify God. When Jesus finally arrived, Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Martha met Jesus and expressed her sorrow, yet her faith remained strong. She believed that if Jesus had been there, her brother would not have died. Jesus assured her that her brother would rise again, declaring, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."

Moved by the grief of Mary and the mourners, Jesus wept. He approached the tomb, a cave with a stone laid across the entrance, and ordered the stone to be removed. Despite Martha's concern about the odor, Jesus insisted, reminding her to believe and witness God's glory. As the stone was rolled away, Jesus prayed to the Father, then called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" To everyone's astonishment, Lazarus emerged, still wrapped in his burial cloths. Jesus instructed the people to unbind him and let him go. This miraculous act not only restored Lazarus to life but also reinforced the faith of many, demonstrating Jesus' divine authority over life and death.
