In Exodus 16:13-35, we find the Israelites journeying through the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt. Faced with hunger and uncertainty, they grumbled against Moses and Aaron. God, hearing their cries, promised to rain down bread from heaven to sustain them. That evening, quails came and covered the camp, providing fresh meat. In the morning, a layer of dew surrounded the camp, which, once evaporated, left behind fine flakes like frost on the ground. The Israelites asked, 'What is it?' Moses explained that this was the bread the Lord had given them to eat, known as manna. Each person was to gather as much as they needed, about an omer per person. Despite attempts by some to hoard or take less, those who followed God's instructions found they had exactly what they needed. The manna, described as white coriander seed tasting like wafers made with honey, sustained them for forty years until they reached the borders of Canaan. God commanded that an omer of manna be kept as a testimony for future generations, preserved in a jar before the Ark of the Covenant. This miraculous provision of quails and manna is a testament to God's continuous care and faithfulness.
