Matthew 9 powerfully reveals Jesus’ compassion and divine authority through forgiveness, calling, and miracles that transform lives. The chapter opens with Jesus healing a paralyzed man—and doing something even more shocking: forgiving his sins. While religious leaders question His authority, Jesus proves that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive.
Jesus then calls Matthew, a despised tax collector, to follow Him—showing that grace reaches society’s outcasts. When questioned for eating with sinners, Jesus declares His mission clearly:
📖 “I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (KJV)
The chapter continues with astonishing miracles. A woman suffering for years is healed by simple faith. A synagogue leader’s daughter is raised from death. Two blind men receive sight. A mute man is freed from demonic oppression. Each moment points to a Savior who responds to faith with mercy and power.
Despite the wonder, some accuse Jesus of evil motives—but He remains focused on compassion, reminding His followers that the harvest is plentiful, yet workers are few.
Matthew 9 teaches us that faith unlocks divine power, mercy triumphs over judgment, and no one is beyond God’s grace.
