Good morning, everyone! Today, we turn our focus to Luke 4, a chapter that highlights the power of overcoming temptation. Luke 4 begins with Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, being led into the wilderness. For forty days, He faces relentless temptation from the devil. These temptations are not just trivial tests; they strike at the core of Jesus' mission and identity.

The devil tempts Him to turn stones into bread, to worship him in exchange for worldly power, and to test God’s protection by throwing Himself from the temple pinnacle. Jesus responds to each temptation with the Word of God, saying, "It is written..." He quotes Scripture to counter the devil's lies and to stand firm in His purpose. This powerful example shows us that we, too, can overcome temptation by grounding ourselves in God’s Word and relying on the Holy Spirit.

In moments of temptation, turning to Scripture and standing firm in our faith provides us with the strength to overcome. Reflect on this: Jesus, though weary and hungry, resisted the devil by the power of Scripture. Let’s follow His example and arm ourselves with the Word of God to stand strong in our trials.
