Psalm 75 is a powerful reminder that God is sovereign, God is just, and God is in control.
“We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near.” — Psalm 75:1
There are times when the world seems unstable. Evil appears to prosper, arrogant people boast, and injustice can make us wonder when God will act.
Psalm 75 gives us the answer:
God has an appointed time.
God declares that He will judge with equity. Even when the earth seems to shake beneath our feet, He is the One who holds its pillars firm.
The psalm warns us against pride. Human power, status, wealth, or influence are temporary. True promotion does not ultimately come from the east, west, or wilderness.
God is the Judge. He brings one down and lifts another up.
Psalm 75 also gives the striking image of a cup in God's hand, representing His judgment against wickedness. Evil will not escape accountability forever.
For believers, this psalm is an invitation to stop worrying about whether justice will come and start trusting the One who promises to bring it.
When life seems unfair, trust God's timing.
When evil appears powerful, trust God's authority.
When pride tempts you, walk humbly before God.
And when the world seems unstable, remember:
God is still holding the pillars.
🙏 Father, help us trust Your timing when we don't understand what You're doing. Keep us humble, strengthen our faith, and remind us that You alone are the righteous Judge. Amen.
