Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, we will explore the spiritual gift of prophecy as highlighted in 1 Corinthians 12:10. The gift of prophecy is a powerful manifestation of the Holy Spirit that enables believers to communicate God’s messages to His people. By examining the biblical foundation and practical application of this gift, we can better appreciate its significance and seek to cultivate it within our church community.

The gift of prophecy involves speaking forth the words of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is not limited to predicting future events but includes conveying God’s will, providing encouragement, and calling for repentance. Prophecy serves to edify, exhort, and comfort the body of Christ.

The Bible provides numerous instances where the gift of prophecy is demonstrated:

Old Testament prophets delivered God’s messages to the people of Israel, calling them to repentance, foretelling future events, and offering hope.

John the Baptist prophesied about the coming of Jesus, preparing the way for His ministry.

Agabus prophesied a severe famine and later predicted Paul’s imprisonment, providing guidance and warning to the early church.

The primary purpose of the gift of prophecy is to glorify God and build up the church.
