John 9 tells the incredible story of a man born blind whose life was forever changed by Jesus Christ. When the disciples assumed his blindness was caused by sin, Jesus revealed a greater purpose: that the works of God would be made manifest through him. Jesus healed the man by making clay, placing it on his eyes, and telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. Through simple obedience and faith, the man received his sight.
But the miracle sparked controversy. The Pharisees questioned the healing because it happened on the Sabbath, refusing to accept Jesus as the Messiah. Yet the healed man stood boldly for the truth, declaring one of the most powerful testimonies in Scripture: βOne thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.β β John 9:25 KJV.
This chapter teaches us that Jesus is the Light of the World who gives both physical and spiritual sight. It reminds believers to trust Godβs purpose even in hardship, walk in obedience, and courageously stand for Christ despite opposition.
