In Gospel of Luke Chapter 22, we witness some of the most powerful and emotional moments in the life of Jesus Christ—the night before His crucifixion.

The chapter begins with religious leaders plotting against Jesus while Judas Iscariot agrees to betray Him for money, revealing the destructive power of greed and betrayal.

Next comes the Last Supper, where Jesus shares the Passover meal with His disciples and establishes what Christians now practice as Communion. During this sacred moment, He explains that the bread represents His body and the cup represents His blood given for the forgiveness of sins.

Jesus then warns Simon Peter that he will deny Him three times before the rooster crows. Though Peter is confident he will never fall away, this moment reminds us of human weakness—but also the hope of restoration.

Later in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prays in deep anguish, showing both His humanity and His perfect submission to God’s will:

“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” — Luke 22:42 (KJV)

Soon after, Jesus is arrested, marking the beginning of His suffering and the path to the cross.
