In Acts 5, the high priest and Sadducees, filled with jealousy over the apostles' miracles and growing influence, arrest them and throw them into public jail. However, God's plan cannot be thwarted. During the night, an angel of the Lord opens the prison doors and brings the apostles out, instructing them to continue preaching in the temple courts: "Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life" (Acts 5:20 KJV).
The next morning, the apostles are found teaching in the temple, astonishing the authorities. When brought before the Sanhedrin, Peter and the apostles boldly profess their allegiance to God, declaring, "We ought to obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29 KJV). Peter continues to preach about Jesus' resurrection and the Holy Spirit granted to those who obey God, emphasizing divine authority over human mandates.
This act of faith and obedience leaves the Sanhedrin enraged, considering execution. However, Gamaliel, a wise Pharisee, cautions them, suggesting that if the apostles' work is of human origin, it will collapse, but if it is from God, it is unstoppable. Despite being flogged and ordered not to speak in the name of Jesus, the apostles rejoice, honored to suffer for their faith. They continue to teach and preach Jesus Christ daily, undeterred and even more resolute in their mission.
