In Gospel of Luke chapter 19, we witness a powerful chain of moments that reveal the heart and mission of Jesus Christ.
It begins in Jericho with Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector despised by society. Curious to see Jesus, he climbs a sycamore tree because of his short stature. What happens next shocks everyone—Jesus stops, calls Zacchaeus by name, and invites Himself to his home.
That moment changes everything.
Zacchaeus responds with genuine repentance, promising to give half his possessions to the poor and repay anyone he cheated four times over. Jesus then declares that salvation has come to his house, revealing that His mission is to seek and save the lost.
Jesus continues by teaching the Parable of the Minas, showing that God entrusts each of us with gifts and opportunities. Faithful stewardship leads to reward, while neglecting our calling carries consequences.
As Jesus approaches Jerusalem, the crowds welcome Him as King in the Triumphal Entry, shouting praises and celebrating. Yet amid the celebration, Jesus weeps over the city because many failed to recognize the moment of their visitation.
Finally, Jesus enters the temple and drives out those who were exploiting worshipers, restoring the holiness of God’s house.
Luke 19 reminds us that:
• No one is too lost for redemption
• God calls us to steward what He has given us
• Jesus is the true King
• Worship should be sincere and pure
From a tax collector in a tree to a King entering Jerusalem, this chapter powerfully reveals the heart of the gospel.
📖 Key Verse (KJV):
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10
