Zechariah 2 opens with a stunning prophetic vision — a man sent to measure Jerusalem. But instead of shrinking, Jerusalem is about to grow beyond its limits. God reveals that His city will overflow with people, livestock, and blessing.

Then comes one of the most powerful promises in all of Scripture:

“I… will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” — Zechariah 2:5 (KJV)

Jerusalem will not depend on physical walls — because God Himself will be its protection.

The Lord calls His scattered people to flee Babylon and return to Zion. He promises to judge the nations that harmed Israel and declares that His people are “the apple of His eye.”

The chapter ends with a glorious prophecy:

God will dwell among His people, and many nations will join themselves to the Lord.

Zechariah 2 teaches us:

• God’s protection is greater than human defenses

• God’s presence is our greatest security

• God’s promises extend to all nations

• Restoration is part of God’s eternal plan

If you feel surrounded by uncertainty, Zechariah 2 is a reminder that God Himself is your wall of fire.
